Join the Cardiology Interest Group in partnership with Ujima Foundation to teach youth about heart health, blood pressure monitoring, and healthy lifestyles.

The Cardiology Interest Group is partnering with Ujima Foundation SXM, a community organization dedicated to empowering youth and families in Sint Maarten through education, wellness, and community support initiatives. During this interactive community event, AUC student volunteers will work directly with children and adolescents to promote cardiovascular health in a fun and engaging environment.

Volunteers will teach youth about heart health, healthy habits, and how to measure blood pressure at home so they can help support the wellness of their families and communities. Students will demonstrate proper blood pressure techniques, answer questions, and practice communicating health information in an age-appropriate and approachable way.

The event will conclude with a fun Zumba class in the AUC gym where volunteers and youth participants will exercise together and celebrate healthy movement and active living.

This is an excellent opportunity for students interested in pediatrics, adolescent medicine, family medicine, cardiology, or community health to gain experience engaging with children and adolescents while building confidence in health communication and preventive education.

Getting there

Please come to the cafeteria at least 30 minutes before this event for check-in and your CAD shirt. The event will be held on campus. All volunteers are also welcome to come to a free breakfast between 6:30-10 AM.
