Join the Pediatric Interest Group as they contribute to a fundraising bike-a-thon and encourage youth participation.

Join the Pediatric Interest Group for a fun and impactful Community Action Day focused on promoting physical activity and healthy lifestyles among youth in Sint Maarten. In partnership with the Seventh-day Adventist Church, this Lighted Youth Bikeathon will bring together children and families for an evening of cycling, community engagement, and health promotion.

AUC student volunteers will ride alongside participating youth, helping create an encouraging and energetic environment that supports children in being active and confident. During the event, volunteers will also have opportunities to share brief, age-appropriate messages about fitness, healthy habits, and staying active, reinforcing the importance of movement for physical and mental wellbeing.

To ensure everyone can participate safely, all volunteers will be provided with a bicycle and helmet for the day.

Volunteers will:

  • Participate in the community bikeathon alongside youth participants
  • Encourage and motivate children during the ride
  • Share short, informal lessons about healthy habits and physical activity
  • Support event organization and youth safety throughout the activity

Getting there

Transportation will be provided. Although this activity is in the evening, volunteers are welcome to join the free CAD breakfast (6:30 am- 10:00 am) to pickup thier 2026 CAD shirt and check in. Your site lead will meet you in the cafeteria again at 5:30 PM and ask you to help them load the bikes onto the van.
