ECO SXM - St Maarten Farmers Cooperative - Recycle Drive supported by Native Nations St Maarten

ECO SXM -, St Maarten Farmers Copperative & NATIVE NATION ST. MAARTEN Celebrated 7 Successful Recycle Drives in the months from February and May 2026.

From Valentine’s Day weekend at the St Peters Community Center and the parking lot of Kooyman at the end of the month, love for community and love for the environment came together in a powerful way.

As an organization committed to community Upliftment and sustainability, Native Nation St Maarten is proud to support ECO SXM and SMFC with this initiative, which resulted in the collection of over 3908 bottles and $195.40 paid out to residents of St. Peters and surrounding communities.

The turnout and participation exceeded expectations and demonstrated what is possible when a community unites around a shared purpose.

Investing Back Into the Community

In alignment with our mission to empower and reinvest in our people, Native Nation St. Maarten contributed $0.05 per bottle, which was donated directly to community members who participated in the drive, with one community member alone depositing 335 bottles.

This small but meaningful incentive not only encouraged recycling but also reinforced the idea that environmental responsibility can generate tangible benefits for our residents.

Each bottle collected represented more than waste diverted from landfills — it symbolized awareness, accountability, and action.

Building Awareness Through Collaborations

We would like to extend our heartfelt appreciation to collaborating partners, St Maarten Farmers Cooperative, Green Dreams Foundation and Perpetual Plastic by EPIC, for their valuable input and dedication to raising awareness about the importance of Agriculture and Recycling within our communities.

Their continued advocacy and educational efforts help strengthen food security and environmental consciousness across the island and ensure that conversations around sustainability remain active and impactful.

True change happens through collaboration, and this initiative is a testament to what can be achieved when organizations come together with a shared vision for a cleaner, greener St. Maarten.

Moving Forward Together

The success of this recycle drive marks another step forward in fostering environmental stewardship within our communities. ECO SXM and Native Nation St. Maarten remains committed to supporting initiatives that promote agricultural sustainability, green economies, community engagement, and economical empowerment.

We thank every resident who contributed, every volunteer who assisted, and every collaborator who helped bring this initiative to life.

To continue to make this possible we are looking for volunteers to assist with the following:

Sorting plastic bottles

Counting Plastic bottles

Cashier assistance to pay out community members that bring in bottles

NOTICE:

Volunteers will be given:

Gloves

Hand Sanitizer

Light Refreshments

Together, we are proving that when community leads, positive change follows — one bottle at a time. See you at the Next Farmers Market & Recycle drive schedules for every other Saturday at the St Peters Community Center.
